InMobi to Shutdown its App Distribution Platform

“App Publish”, InMobi’s Android app distribution platform launched in 2013 will be shutting down on 4th of this month. The platform enabled developers to publish apps across 130 Android app stores. With the termination of services, all apps published via the platform will be unpublished from the app stores. They are trying for a solution to this. LINK

Mi announces Redmi Note for Rs 9,999

Mi, (Xiaomi) a Chinese electronics maker has announced to introduce the Redmi Note at Rs 9,999 for India. Featuring a 5.5-inch HD IPS display, Redmi Note is powered by octa-core 1.7 Ghz MediaTek MTK6592 mobile chipset, 2 GB RAM, 8 GB on-board storage, 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, 5 MP front camera, Dual-SIM support, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS+A-GPS, Wi-Fi, USB OTG and 3100 mAh battery. Mi Mi3 goes for pre-order for Rs 13,999 at Flipkart till July 21

Mi, known as Xiaomi, is a Chinese electronics maker who has made a debut in India today by introducing a powerful Mi3 smartphone. Mi has loaded the MIUI v5 based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. The Mi3 features 5-inch IPS LCD display with 1080p HD resolution, quad-core 2.3 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 mobile chipset, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB non-expandable storage, 13 MP rear camera with LED Flash, 2 MP front camera, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS+A-GPS+GLONASS, and 3050 mAh battery. Those who register with mi.com/in or flipkart.com/mi before July 21, can buy it for Rs 13,999 instead of Rs 14,999. Mi Mi3 will be available for purchase from Flipkart on July 22. LINK

Android’s In-built Reset Option Doesn’t Actually Delete Data

In a study conducted by the security firm Avast, personal data including photos, messages and contacts were easily recovered from used Android phones even though they were reset before they were sold. Like all basic delete functions, Android’s built-in reset option only mark the storage used by files as space that may now be overwritten. Until new data is stored in its place, the “deleted” files can still be recovered using readily available recovery softwares. Avast offers a free anti-theft tool that first deletes and then overwrites. LINK

Micromax, Karbonn and Spice to join the Android One program for sub $100 phones

Google has announced the new Android One program to help create standard hardware for make sub $100 Android smartphones. Micromax, Karbonn and Spice Mobiles are participating in the Android One program. Google Engineers will basically select and authorize the suitable hardware that can easily run the stock Android experience. The other companies simply have to manufacture the devices. Android One program devices will also get Play Store installs by the handset makers and also update priority just like the Nexus devices. LINK

Xiaomi has joined hands with Flipkart to sell two smartphones online. Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi and Mi3 for Indian consumers. Xiaomi Redmi packs 4.7-inch HD display, quad-core 1.5 Ghz MediaTek 6589 SoC, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB built-in storage, 8 MP rear camera, 1.3 MP front camera, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with MIUI v5 on top. Xiaomi Mi3 offers 5-inch Full HD IPS display, 2.3 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB built-in storage, 13 MP rear camera with dual-flash, 2 MP front camera, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC and 3050 mAh battery.
