Bharti Airtel has crossed 300 million subscribers on its mobile, fixed line and DTH services. It had crossed the first 100 million in 2009 and 200 million in 2012. It is said to be the largest global consumer brand originated in India with operations in 20 countries. LINK

Airtel launches 4G LTE services in Ludhiana, Punjab

Airtel has announced that the 4G network services for mobile phones and USB Modems has been rolled out in Ludhiana, Punjab. Airtel has also partnered with Apple to support the 4G LTE network services for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5c devices in Ludhiana. With a purchase of 4G enabled Dongle for Rs 1500 or CPE for Rs 2500, Airtel provides a free 4G or universal SIM. Airtel Postpaid users can opt for special plan at Rs 999 which is applicable for mobiles, dongles and modems. Meanwhile, pre-paid users can opt for Rs. 995 plan valid only for mobiles. Both pre-paid and post-paid users get FREE 10 GB data for 4G network for a month. LINK

Bharti Airtel gets Unified License for Delhi, Kolkata circles

Indian Department of Telecom has given a go to Bharti Airtel for Unified Licence in Delhi and Kolkata service areas for using any cellular technology. Airtel has to sign the Unified License Agreement before the end of this month with DoT. Airtel’s 20-year license period in Delhi and Kolkata expires in November 2014. To extend that, Airtel will have to pay Rs 2.3 crores non-refundable entry fee to DoT for bagging the Unified License for the Delhi and Kolkata service areas. LINK

Airtel offers special WhatsApp Data Packs starting Rs 36 per month

WhatsApp has signed a deal with Airtel to offer special data packs for the WhatsApp app users. As part of the deal, Airtel is offering WhatsApp-only data packs starting Rs 36 per month and go up to Rs 49 per month. For select circles, Airtel is offering up to 200 MB of WhatsApp data usage for a month. Airtel 2G and 3G subscribers will have to activate this data pack by sending the text WhatsApp to 121 number. Airtel, Idea & Vodafone India resume 3G intra-circle roaming services

Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone India have resumed offering 3G services in circles where they do not have spectrum. Airtel has resumed 3G services in eight circles – Haryana, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Kolkata and UP (East) from Idea Cellular has resumed 3G services in 10 circles – Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kolkata & West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Assam and North East. Vodafone India has resumed 3G services in 11 circles – Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh (West), Bihar, Assam and North East. Airtel’s 4G Coverage Expands To Three More Cities

India’s largest telecommunications company Airtel has expanded its 4G LTE coverage to three more cities in India. The service was last launched in Kolkata and has now been expanded to Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. Before you rush in to get a new 4G connection, let us warn you that it is currently only compatible with a select few handsets that support the TD-LTE 2300 Mhz band. These include the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S.

Bharti Airtel boasts of opening 100 stores across India in 14 months

Bharti Airtel Limited has announced that the company now has 100 Airtel Retail outlets across India in last 14 months. These Airtel Retail outlets are owned by Bharti Airtel and has over 1000 well-trained staff representing the company. Airtel talks about its one-stop-shop outlets that offer everything mobile related – from mobile devices to new SIM modules. Airtel stores also has select stores run entirely by women employees across the country. LINK

Airtel has partnered Do-It-Yourself (DIY) e-comm solution provider Shopify’s services to its SOHO and SME customers by provisioning the service through its cloud platform. Airtel customers will get the service at Rs 818 per month. However, Shopify offers four monthly plans at Rs 750, Rs 1550, Rs 3150, and Rs 9560 to customers who avail its services directly through its website. Link
