Twitter acquires image search startup – Madbits

Twitter has quietly acquired visual intelligence technology developing start-up Madbits. Twitter’s game plan is to use Madbit’s brilliant deep-learning-based computer vision technology with the images that are being uploaded every day to the social network. Madbit’s technology basically allows to assign relevant meta information to the raw images and bolster the image search. LINK


Yahoo Acquires RayV

Yahoo has acquired RayV, the video streaming service. Details of the deal aren’t out yet. Yahoo is trying hard to boost their video scene. It had earlier tried to get hold of Hulu and DailyMotion. LINK

RDS Bawa, CFO for Network18 Group, quits

After B. Saikumar, CEO and Ajay Chacko, COO of Network 18 Group quit, now the Chief Financial Officer, RDS Bawa has bid adieu to the company. Serving Network18 for 19 years, there has been no formal reason cited for leaving the group. Three major wings of Network18 quit after announcement of acquisition by RIL. LINK


That said, RIL’s board has approved a funding of up to Rs 4,000 crore to Independent Media Trust (IMT), of which RIL is a sole beneficiary, to acquire control in Network18 including its subsidiary TV18 Broadcast and to make open offers post the acquisition. IMT will be using these funds to acquire 78% stake in Network18 and 9% stake in TV18 and to acquire shares tendered in the Open Offers. IMT will be making open offers simultaneously to public shareholders to acquire shares of Network18, TV18 and Infomedia Press Limited. Expect a lot of people to quit now. Link

Google buys Enterprise focused Android company – Divide

Google is has acquired Divide, a company working on enterprise security aspect for Android platform. The terms of the deal weren’t disclosed but Divide team will soon join the Google Android team. Divide basically helps the Enterprises supporting Android devices to keep the corporate information separate from the personal information on those devices. Basically supporting the whole Bring-Your-Own-Device culture in many companies. In next major update of Android, we can expect some features that are targeted specially for Enterprise companies. LINK
