Twitter has quietly acquired visual intelligence technology developing start-up Madbits. Twitter’s game plan is to use Madbit’s brilliant deep-learning-based computer vision technology with the images that are being uploaded every day to the social network. Madbit’s technology basically allows to assign relevant meta information to the raw images and bolster the image search. LINK

Mi, (Xiaomi) a Chinese electronics maker, has announced the new Dual-SIM Redmi 1s smartphone for India. The new Redmi 1s will compete with Motorola Moto E and ASUS Zenfone 4 at Rs 6,999. Redmi 1s features a 4.7-inch IPS display with HD resolution, quad-core 1.6 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB on-board storage, 3G SIM support, 8 MP rear camera with LED, 1.6 MP front camera, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS+A-GPS+GLONASS, and 2000 mAh battery. Mi Mi3 goes for pre-order for Rs 13,999 at Flipkart till July 21

Mi, known as Xiaomi, is a Chinese electronics maker who has made a debut in India today by introducing a powerful Mi3 smartphone. Mi has loaded the MIUI v5 based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. The Mi3 features 5-inch IPS LCD display with 1080p HD resolution, quad-core 2.3 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 mobile chipset, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB non-expandable storage, 13 MP rear camera with LED Flash, 2 MP front camera, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS+A-GPS+GLONASS, and 3050 mAh battery. Karbonn plans expansion in 65 countries by diluting 20% stake

Karbonn Mobiles is planning to expand is presence in 65 more countries and for that, the company is expecting to raise funds by diluting 15-20% stake. The company is in discussions with some private equity players to offload the stakes and eventually aiming to raise about Rs 1000 crores to take expansion plan ahead. The company aims to export about 12 million devices by next year. LINK

Google offers 2TB Free storage for a year deal

Google has announced a new deal that offers free 2 TB cloud storage for a year. The catch is that the customers need to install a cloud gateway software from one of the Google Partners – Panzura. This virtual appliance that is installed on VMWare hypervisor, connects directly to the Google Cloud Platform along with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure platform. That much free storage for a year means a lot of cost savings for small and medium sized companies. Google is clearly stepping up to compete with Amazon Web Services. LINK

HTC has launched a new Desire 616 Dual SIM smartphone powered by octa-core MediaTek MT6592 mobile processor. HTC Desire 616 offers 5-inch HD display and Dual-SIM supporting one 3G HSPA+ network SIM. Sad part is that it still arrives with HTC Sense 5.1 running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Opera Mini 8 for iOS brings new data compression mode

Opera Software has released the new Opera Mini 8 for the iOS platform. New Opera Mini 8 brings a more flat, native iOS 7 look for the supporting iOS devices. The mobile web browser also integrates new Opera Mini mode that promises data compression of websites to up to 90 percent. While the usual Opera Turbo mode continues to exist, it also offers slightly better web browsing experience. These modes help users save up on mobile data when travelling or on limited data packages. LG G Watch, Samsung Gear Live smartwatches go live for sale at Google Play Store

Google Play Store for India now offers the LG G Watch for Rs 14,999 and Samsung Gear Live for Rs 15,999. Both smartwatches featuring Android Wear platform can be booked now but will be shipped only next month. Both watches pack 1.2 Ghz CPU, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB storage and several sensors. LG G Watch features screen resolution of 280×280 and packs 400 mAh battery while Samsung Gear Live offeres 320×320 pixel resolution and packs 300m Ah battery.
