Sandisk Contemplating Purchase Of Fusion-io To Bolster Storage Business

Flash memory maker SanDisk Corporation has on Monday said that it is planning to buy Fusion-io Inc for about $1.1 billion. This is seen as an attempt to bolster Sandisk’s fast-growing corporate flash storage solutions. This area has higher margins that Sandisk’s traditional business of making memory chips for smartphones and devices. Sandisk might have come as a lifesaver for Fusion-io which has been battling losses since its IPO back in 2011.
