AT&T has officially announced plans to acquire DirecTV at roughly $95 per share, which comes to a total of $48.5B. DirecTV also has $19B worth debt, which sets AT&T back to $67B. DirecTV will operate as independent company for a while. Link

Rumors say that Google is closer to buying Twitch, a video platform and community for gamers. It allows gamers to share their gameplay. The acquisition talks is still in early stage but it appears that the target price is going to be $1B. Twitch has raised $35M till date. Link

MasterCard is acquiring Pune based ElectraCard Services (ECS), a provider of software products and processing services for e-payments. Terms of the deal are not disclosed. The deal will be completed by Q2 of 2014 and ECS’s team will join MasterCard. Link

Tata Communications has sold Neotel to Vodafone-owned Vodacom for $676.45M. Neotel provides value added voice, internet and data services for businesses, among others in major cities in South Africa. Its fibre network of over 15,000 km spans Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Pietermaritzburg, Port Elizabeth and traverses approximately 30 other cities, towns and villages in South Africa. Cancer Genetics Inc has acquired BioServe Biotechnologies for $1.9M in stock and other deferred consideration. Transaction will close in Q3 of 2014. Bioserve will become a subsidiary of CGI & will be renamed to CGI India Pvt Ltd. Venture firm Ventureast will exit the company after the deal. Link
