Norwest Venture Partners is expected to announce the close of a new $1.2B fund. The new fund brings the firm’s total assets under management to $5B. Company has elevated Jeff Crowe and Matthew Howard to Managing Partner.

VioletStreet and Zify have raised Rs 10L each from 5 investors at Startup SmashUp. Investors picked up 10% equity. VioletStreet is a fashion curation and retail site that went live in March this year. Zify meanwhile, is a Hyderabad-based startup that lets anyone offer ride sharing services. Link

Bangalore based mGaadi, a call auto service has raised undisclosed amount of funding from Unitus. Will use the funds raised to develop its network of auto drivers, to enhance its technology platform, and to expand its operations in Bangalore and other Indian metros.

Bangalore based messaging app Cooltok has been acquired by US based Kirusa for an undisclosed sum. Team will now work from Kirusa’s office in Bangalore. All technology and intellectual property owned by Cooltok was also acquired as part of the deal. Link
