Acquisitions: Google, Snapchat

Google has acquired Rangespan, provider of back office services for online retailers for an undisclosed amount. It uses data science to help them expand their product selection based on real-time sales dynamics.  The service is shutting down and integrated into Google. Some of its team members will join Google. Link


Snapchat’s video messaging update was a result of a secret acquisition it made of a real-time communications software company called AddLive. The acquisition happened a few months ago. Link
