FTC Says Facebook Will Need Permission From WhatsAppers To Use Their Data

Remember the $19B WhatsApp acquisition by Facebook? Well FTC has ruled that Facebook will need the “affirmative consent” of WhatsApp users in order to use their data for advertising or anything. This is because, WhatsApp’s most recent privacy policy from July 7, 2012 days that it does not collect user details, location data, etc, and that user’s messages are not archived by WhatsApp. Additionally, it does not sell Personally Identifiable Information to 3rd parties.
