In a setback for Google, the company has been fined $17 million as  compensation to 37 US states for tracking consumers online activities without explicit permission or knowledge. The case dates back to 2011 and involves Apple’s Safari browser. Google overrode Safari’s default cookie tracking settings to track users on computers and iPhones. – [Link]
